Coinbase Pro → Coinbase Advanced (Advanced Trade) — Migration Guide

Simple steps to access Advanced Trade, move balances, download history, API notes and troubleshooting.

What happened & why this guide

Coinbase Pro was sunset and its advanced trading capabilities were consolidated into Coinbase Advanced (also known as Advanced Trade). This change unifies trading and product features on the main Coinbase platform while keeping the low, volume-based fee model for advanced users.

How to access Coinbase Advanced (Advanced Trade)

  1. Log into your regular Coinbase account.
  2. Open Trade and choose Advanced (or go to coinbase.com/advanced-trade).
  3. Advanced Trade uses the same account balance as your Coinbase account — no separate sign-up is required for most users.

Tip: On mobile, toggle to Advanced Trade from the main app menu if available.

Moving funds: manual transfer vs automatic migration

You may already have been migrated automatically. If you still have assets on Coinbase Pro or want to move them yourself, you can transfer balances into Coinbase (the main account) manually or use Coinbase’s transfer flow.

  • Manual transfer: Sign in to Coinbase Pro (if still accessible), go to Portfolios → Withdraw → Transfer to Coinbase, and select assets to transfer.
  • Automatic migration: Coinbase communicated phased migrations and in many cases moved balances for customers — check your email and account statements for confirmations.

If you need transaction history or statements, download them from your account statements or the appropriate reporting section before or after migration.

Downloading transaction history & tax reports

After migration, you can still access historic Pro statements and transaction data from Coinbase’s statements and reports pages. Always download the CSV/PDF reports you need for taxes or bookkeeping.

  1. Sign in to accounts.coinbase.com/statements (or the Reports/Statements area in your account).
  2. Select the date range and export CSV / PDF as required.

Fees & order types

Advanced Trade preserves the volume-based fee structure that was available on Coinbase Pro; however, always confirm the fee schedule in your region on Coinbase’s fee page. Advanced Trade supports maker/taker order types and additional advanced order functionality.

API & developer notes

API users: Coinbase Pro APIs have been replaced / mapped to the Advanced Trade API. If you have integrations, update them to the Advanced Trade API endpoints and review the official mapping documentation (libraries like CCXT provide guidance on mapping old Pro endpoints to the new API classes).

If your bot relied on coinbasepro-specific endpoints, check library docs and Coinbase’s developer docs for the recommended changes.

Common issues & troubleshooting

  • Can’t find your funds: Check the deposit/withdrawal history and the statements page. Coinbase sent migration confirmation emails in many cases.
  • Order differences: Advanced Trade may present slightly different UI for order placement; verify order parameters before submitting.
  • API keys: API key formats and scopes may differ — rotate keys and reconfigure scopes if moving to Advanced Trade APIs.
  • Customer support: Use Coinbase Help Center for account-specific support & migration confirmation.

Final checklist before you trade on Advanced Trade

  • Confirm balances were transferred or transfer manually if needed.
  • Download transaction history for your records (CSV/PDF).
  • Update any API integrations to the Advanced Trade API.
  • Review fee schedules and order types for your trading strategy.
  • Enable account security: 2FA, strong password, and withdrawal allowlists if available.

Note: Platform and regulatory details may differ by jurisdiction — consult Coinbase’s official resources for region-specific guidance.
